Our story starts as two natives of the Empire State, Long Island to be exact. Our passion for food started with growing up near the city that never sleeps and is full of Flavas. He began the appreciation for cooking "Good Eats" (props to Alton Brown) from his grandfather of Norwegian descent. Continued his craft working in a true old school, greasy spoon while in H.S. and then a French restaurant all while conducting culinary experiments on his peeps. He discovered a serious palate and a great love of beer which led to brewing his own beer, way before "Craft Beer" became the rage. True to his nature, he went on to be a nationally certified beer judge.
She was raised in a typical household where child democracy was not practiced and ate what Mom made or went hungry. Thank you Mom for a generation X childhood and working hard to cultivate a well balanced vintage. She was a bottomless pit until the age of 16 when the metabolism finally started catching up. That didn't stop her from taking on a White Castle challenge (youthful taste buds and budget friendly) of 3 double cheeseburgers and a large black and white Carvel shake. Then came the maturation and seduction of amazing food and wines that she couldn't control. Great gratitude goes to Elizabeth (her navigation buddy) and Warren (God rest his soul) for opening the world of discovery and red wine bliss.
Now residents of the Oldest City in America, St. Augustine, we live to eat rather than eat to live. Travel is a very important component to our philosophy. We yearn to experience bold flavors, cuisines and cultures. Our suitcases and passports are always ready to go. Whether it's a below street level China Town hole in the wall or a James Beard award winning restaurant, we want to taste it all.
We created this site as a way for us to disconnect from our everyday jobs and to share and recount all of our memorable experiences.
